Specifications include, but are not limited to: This Scope of Work is for 2,212 acres of pedestrian survey for the Middleman Vegetation Project. This forest vegetation project is primarily for large landscape level vegetation management that entails road construction/access, timber harvesting, prescribed burning, and various other vegetation management methods. There are approximately 2,212 acres of high site probability areas that need heritage pedestrian surveys—these are discontinuous survey units spread throughout the project area. Please note that the survey units provided by the Deputy Forest Archaeologist are not the project APE. The survey units are portions of the project APE that are considered high site probability according to our 2019 Site Identification Strategy. There are 10 previously recorded heritage sites inside of the project’s indirect and direct APE, 8 of these sites need to be visited, updated, and evaluated (see Table 1).
