Specifications include, but are not limited to: Chassis: • School buses shall utilize diesel fuel unless otherwise noted. • School buses with less than 36 passenger capacity, the minimum power plant shall be 160 hp engine or equal. School buses with capacity of 36 passenger or greater, the engine will produce at least 190 hp measured at an RPM not to exceed 2,600 and generate at least 420 foot pounds of torque. • Unit 11,12,13,29,30,31,32,35,39 and 43. (Propane) shall have tanks with a minimum usable capacity of 67 gallons. Units with Option F will have a minimum of 90 gallons useable propane. • Units 34, 44 and 50 shall utilize gasoline fuel. • One spare rim shall be provided. • Tires – 11R22.5 on 36-72 passenger (not on flat floor buses), 245x70R225 or 255x70R225 on flat floor buses and 11R22.5 (load range H) on 84 passenger buses. • Tire Treads – Steering tread on front tires and mud and snow tread on rear tires. • Wheels shall be balanced. • All buses shall have front-end alignments. Body: • Clearance lights may be controlled through a separate switch, through the body solenoid or bodycontrol electronic control module, or they may also be controlled by the chassis tail light switch (if the latter, the clearance light circuit shall be isolated by a protective relay.) • District identification (“____________ SCHOOL DISTRICT”) will be made with 6 inch black letters applied to both sides of the bus on the beltline. Use “APPOQUINIMINK SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit #1-10, “BRANDYWINE SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 11-13,”CAESAR RODNEY SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit #14, “CAPE HENLOPEN SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 15-17, “CAPITAL SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit 18-20 “CHRISTINA SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 21-25, “COLONIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 26-27, Indian River School District” Unit 28,“RED CLAY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 29- 32, Not labeled at this time Units 33-50. • The child reminder system shall be armed when the warning system master switch is turned on and the Red warning lights have been activated. • A storage compartment with a closeable door and minimum capacity of 500 cu. in. located in the driver compartment area shall be provided. • Except for the front and rear caps, which shall be NSBY the roof of the bus will be painted white. The white roof shall terminate no lower than 6 inches above the dip rail. Heaters: • Type C and D buses shall be equipped with 3 heaters: a fresh air fed minimum 90,000 BTU located to the driver’s left which may also be used for a windshield defroster, a 50,000 BTU located adjacent to the entrance door and stepwell which shall provide defrost capability to the entrance door glass and step surfaces, and a 80,000 BTU located under the passenger seat behind the rear axle (wall mounted on the right side adjacent to the special service entrance door on lift buses). Floors: • Subfloor is required to be of “marine-grade”. Exterior Lights: • Exterior lamps will be Light Emitting Diode (LED). This includes all exterior lights except headlights and turn/signals/light assemblies inside headlights. Lift Bus Specifications: When a school bus with lift is specified, the package shall contain the following specifications: • Buses shall be equipped with track flooring for all wheelchair stations. • Buses shall be equipped with self-tightening retractor securement systems and self-retracting adjustable height for shoulder/lap belt assemblies for the maximum number of wheelchair positions identified. • Power unit for wheelchair lift (rear) is to be located forward of lift with controls secured to the interior of the lift door. • Buses shall be equipped with one emergency fire blanket that is to be mounted in the rear of the bus.
