Specifications include, but are not limited to: provide advice and information regarding funding opportunities from federal agencies that sponsor university research programs. The firm or individual selected will serve as DC-based federal relations for all campuses of the Montana University System. The federal relations firm or individual selected will also be responsible for advising the MUS on the whole array of federal legislation that could impact the MUS’s research mission. The firm or individual will be responsible for serving as a liaison with the Montana congressional delegation as well as other state’s delegations when cooperative opportunities are identified. The firm or individual selected will work directly with the Vice Presidents for Research at Montana State University and the University of Montana, as well as the Deputy Commissioner for Government Relations and the Research Director at the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education for the Montana University System, to achieve the following: Increase the MUS’s current level of federal funding and successful grants for research, teaching and outreach activities. Provide analysis and information regarding federal legislation and policies that will impact research and other programs essential to the mission of the campuses of the MUS. In concert with the MUS inform elected and appointed federal officials of the MUS’s accomplishments and areas of expertise and how these contribute to the national and international reputation of the MUS.
