Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is seeking a qualified Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firm to provide design, estimating, and construction administration services for installation of bus shelters along the recently completed Pawtucket Central Falls Transit Emphasis Corridor (TEC) in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The TEC work was part of the larger Pawtucket Central Falls Transit Center project. The completed TEC project included dedicated bus and bicycle lanes, new bus stop islands, modified curbing at bus stops, and pavement markers. The scope of work did not include bus shelter installation at any of the bus stops along the TEC. This proposed “TEC Shelter Installation Project” will address the lack of shelters and/or amenities at the following locations: 1) Goff after Broad 2) Exchange after Broad 3) Exchange Before Roosevelt 4) Exchange after Roosevelt Amenities include but are not limited to: trashcans, benches, lighting, real time screens, signage, advertising boxes, and railings. This proposed “TEC Shelter Installation Project” project will also address safety concerns for riders waiting on the new bus islands. There are reports of vehicles traveling over the bus islands striking signage and/or leaving other damage. RIPTA would like a bus island protection detail developed for the TEC bus islands that could potentially be implemented in similar fashion at all bus islands throughout the state.
