Specifications include, but are not limited to: Annual inspection, maintenance, and certification. Work will consist of (but not limited to) the following: 1. Visual inspection of under structure of scale to include: A. Plumpness of load cells and free of debris under and around load cells. B. Wiring not showing any signs of wear or abuse from everyday traffic. C. Iron rods and load cells and stand-all hardware for tightness. D. Ground intact. E. Pit showing signs of cracks from frost heaves or shift in ground. F. Inspect for rust occurring on weigh bridge iron girders. G. Check J box, checking bolts and conduit connectors, making sure everything is tight. H. Clearance around scale is adequate. I. Check that the printer and indicator are working properly. J. Observe a few trucks while weighing to observe if scale is functioning properly. 2. Scale service includes: A. Jack up scale and clean out load cells and stands. Grease load cell pins, links, and upper plate; wrap in plastic; adjust check rods as needed; and tighten all hardware on load cell stands and girder bolts. B. Check for adequate clearance around scale after jacking and adjusting check rods. C. Any metal that is starting to rust will be cleaned and painted with epoxy paint. If the rust is massive, then proper personnel will be notified. D. Scale will be checked with 20,000 lbs. of test weights and calibrated to tolerance. E. Certify each scale. F. Weather seals around the platform scale need to be replaced if worn or missing. G. The scale pit shall be cleaned of sediment and debris buildup. (shoveled and swept) H. The scale pit shall be checked from proper drainage of water to sump hole or drain. Provide the weigh inspection station with the same checklist that is used for the visual inspection and the original PSC report. Contract to include service calls and repair throughout the year. Must be licensed to service our current equipment.
