Specifications include, but are not limited to: This request for bid is for self-rescue training for the crews of "snooper" truck bridge inspectors to learn how to rescue themselves in the event that the truck tips over or the hydraulics fail and the boom collapses preventing the inspectors from easily extracting themselves from their suspended work platform. OSHA requires employees be trained in procedures and methods to remain safe while working. Specifically, OSHA 1926.502 requires that anyone working six feet or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling. In this case, the workers are in a basket slung under a bridge structure and high enough over the ground to require the use of a personal fall arrest system composed of a harness, lanyard and an anchor tie off point to prevent them from falling to the ground below if there is an unplanned exit from the basket. Additionally, employers must provide "....prompt rescue of employees in the event of a fall or shall ensure that employees are able to rescue themselves...." (1926.502(d)(20)).
