Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall provide qualified archaeologists, as defined by the Secretary of Interior’s professional qualification standards (36 CFR 61, Appendix A) to complete Public Lands Field Archaeological Permits, Archaeological Literature Reviews and a Determination of Adverse Effect Study for the Engineering Projects as listed in the Bid Items and Exhibit A -Project Maps. The Permits, Reviews, and Reports shall be completed and submitted to the Project Manager (Carissa Wegner cwegner@cityofmadison.com) by the due dates as specified in each Bid Item. The due dates are typically 4-6 weeks before the Engineering project contracts are advertised. Please note the project schedules, and therefore the Bid Item due dates in this contract may change at any time. Note: All required archaeology monitoring for the projects listed in the Bid Items will not be included in this contract, and instead will be part of the City Public Works construction contracts. There are three general types of proposed Engineering projects in this contract: 1. STORM OR SANITARY SEWER PROJECT: These projects are typically stand-alone stormwater or sanitary sewer improvement, flood mitigation, or greenway channel improvements. The work may take place in a street (possibly affecting curb and sidewalk), greenway, or park. 2. STREET RESURFACING PROJECTS: The process typically involves grinding off a few inches of pavement, and placing a new driving surface. As part of resurfacing projects, the City may need to replace City utilities under the roadway (storm, sanitary, water), repair curb and sidewalks. 3. STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: In general, planned project activities consist of replacing the entire roadway including the pavement, the stone base under the pavement and the curb and gutter. Projects may include replacement of public underground utilities: storm and/or sanitary sewer mains and laterals. Removal and replacement of deteriorated sidewalk, drive aprons, and existing bituminous pavement This contract shall begin as soon as the contract is executed in 2023 and end Dec. 31, 2024 with the option to extend up to three additional years (Dec. 31, 2027).
