Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Wet Wipe/Sanitize with Germicidal Solution: a. Window sills, low vents and other low level ledges b. Cleared areas of counters and desktops, telephones, and chart wells c. Sinks d. Water cooler/drinking fountain e. Public telephones f. Furniture to include beds, chairs, tables, and stools 2. Spot clean and sanitize: a. Walls, doors, and door frames b. Finger marks and smudges c. Interior glass doors and glass partitions d. Exteriors of cabinets, icemakers, and refrigerators 3. Clean and sanitize washrooms and bathrooms with germicidal solution: a. Curtain rods, fixtures, shelves and ledges b. Sanitize and polish bathtub and/or shower c. Clean and sanitize lavatory and toilet bowls inside and outside d. Sanitize and wet clean floors to kill pathogens e. Replenish the supply of toilet tissue, soap, paper towels, etc. Bathrooms as referred to in this specification shall mean all patient and non-patient. 4. Empty and Clean: All wastepaper baskets and replace liners. 5. Arrange Furniture: a. Place all furniture in standard pattern for respective room/area b. Move office furniture, chairs, wastebaskets, and other easily movable items to clean underneath and return to their original location c. Use extreme care when moving furniture and equipment. No chairs, wastepaper baskets, or other items shall be stacked on desks or tables. All furniture and equipment shall be returned to its original position upon the completion of work. d. Computers, printers, copiers, or other electrical equipment of similar nature, and items on personal desktops or in cubicles, shall not be moved during any cleaning operation. 6. Main Cleaning of Floors: a. Thoroughly clean floors using a chemically treated mop that will reduce airborne dust, decreasing the possibility of in-hospital infection. b. Vacuum carpet to remove surface soil and dirt; c. Wet Clean Floors with a germicidal solution to kill both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens; d. Damp Mop hard surface floors to remove surface soil and dirt; e. Spot Clean Floors to remove spots from spillage, and f. Spray Buff floors with floor finish solution to restore their appearance and sanitize. 1. Preparation of new floors shall be sealed and at least two coats of wax finish applied. 2. Existing floors shall be done with a minimum of two coats of wax. 7. Emergency Cleaning (any KCPC location): Perform emergency health and safety cleaning; e.g. as a result of minor fire, flood, wind damage, broken water pipes, commode overflow, vandalism, or health and safety cleaning, to restore the area to a state of cleanliness. Health and safety cleaning includes blood, body fluids and fecal matter on any surface (i.e. floors, ceiling, walls, furniture). Emergency service shall be provided within one (1) hour of notification. (An estimate of twenty (20) emergency cleaning incidents, which may last 1 – 2 hours in duration, may occur annually.)
