Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State intends to make a noncompetitive purchase of a Handheld X-Ray Backscatter Imager. The Handheld X-Ray Backscatter Imager is advanced x-ray imaging technology. Traditional x-ray machines detect hard and soft materials by the variation in x-ray intensity transmitted through the target. In contrast, backscatter x-ray detects the radiation that reflects from the target. Handheld backscatter x-ray instruments enable users to quickly find concealed explosives, narcotics and other contraband through 3 mm of steel equivalent material – more than three times the thickness of typical motor vehicle body panels with none of the limitations of portable transmission x-ray systems. As the handheld x-ray backscatter imager is moved over an object a 2-dimensional backscatter x-ray image of the object is displayed in real-time on the touchscreen and saved in the instrument’s memory. The instrument can scan small or large objects and see what’s inside immediately. Scan up to a square foot per second and see high-contrast backscatter x-ray images of concealed threats such as explosives, firearms, drugs, currency and much more in vehicles, walls, furniture, aircraft, packages, etc. The instrument also allows the operator to scan in hardto-reach places. The device includes two years warranty and support, and on-site training class or online training.
