Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Conferring with hospital social services staff regarding patients who meet the criteria above • Conferring with and communicating with clinical staff such as providers and nurses regarding patient condition, scope of healthcare needed, prognosis, healthcare decisions to be made, placement and ongoing healthcare needs • Reviewing medical records • Preparing and filing petitions and other relevant documents to obtain and provide guardianship services on behalf of UKHC patients • Preparing and filing motions regarding pending cases, such as for substitution of counsel • Review of documents and informal advice • Drafting briefs, motions, and memoranda • Drafting formal opinions when required • Conferring with Court personnel to facilitate the guardianship process • Appear at guardianship hearings • Communicate Court findings and Orders to UKHC providers and staff, and make necessary decisions regarding care and as otherwise permitted by law • Prepare a monthly report regarding actions taken on behalf of UK HealthCare patients and the status of each matter • Conferring with UKHC Risk management counsel and University counsel regarding unique issues affecting UKHC patients; and • Making decisions regarding disposition of the patient’s body in accordance with KRS 367.93117
