Specifications include, but are not limited to: Engine: Shall be a six cylinder, turbocharged, charge air cooled, diesel engine and be designed and built by the manufacturer. Shall be certified to EPA Final Tier 4. Shall have a wet-sleeve cylinder liner design. Engine displacement shall be no less than 6.8 liters. Engine maximum horsepower shall be no less than 168 HP at 1800 RPM. Engine shall have minimum 513-foot pounds of torque at 1100 RPM. Fuel system shall be high-pressure, common rail system with electric priming pump. Daily check points shall be accessible from one side of the engine and from ground level. Under-hood engine air cleaner shall be dry type, dual element with a restriction indicator and accessible without tools. Shall have centrifugal engine air intake pre-cleaner. Shall have automatic exhaust filter regeneration with derating when exceeding system temperatures. Full access service doors on both sides of engine. Engine shall have no less than 10-micron rated primary fuel filter with water separator. Shall be equipped with a heavy-duty steel fuel tank guard. Service interval for the engine oil and the oil filter shall be 500 hours. Shall have a programmable auto-shutdown and auto-idle feature for the engine as standard equipment. The electrical system shall be 24 volts with minimum 115-amp alternator. Shall have automatic glow plugs and/or intake air heater. Shall have 110-volt engine block heater and cord installed. Cooling: Shall have a proportionally controlled, hydraulically driven cooling fan. Shall have automatic and programmable enabled reversing fan drive. Cooling system shall be isolated from the engine compartment. Shall have a coolant recovery tank provided. Shall have a fan-guard. Fluid levels should be easily checked by sight gauges or overflow tank. Cooling system shall have a 6000-hour interval of service. Power Train: Transmission shall have a minimum of four forward and three reverse gears. The transmission shall be electronically controlled, adaptive, with load and speed dependent shift modulation. Shift modes shall be manual, auto to first or second, auto shift down or auto shift up and down. Service interval for the transmission oil and transmission filter shall be 2000 hours. The transmission clutch calibration shall be performed from the cab monitor. Forward-Neutral-Reverse with gear-select lever, and shift-down button on hydraulic lever shall be mounted on joystick. Sight gauge showing transmission fluid shall be at ground level. Transmission filter restriction shall be displayed in the cab. The transmission shall be able to reach a minimum 22.3 mph in highest gear and a minimum 14.9 mph in next highest gear. Axles and Brakes: The final drives shall be heavy-duty inboard planetary. Shall have the brake pedal function as a clutch cut off or brake only function. The service brake shall be hydraulically actuated, spring-retracted, inboard sun shaft mounted, oil cooled, self-adjusting, single disc, and sealed from water, mud, and dust contamination. The parking brake shall be automatic spring applied, hydraulically released, driveline mounted, oil-cooled, multi-disc and sealed from water, mud and dust contamination. The brakes shall have easy access for inspection with elevated axle breathers for reduction in contamination. Rear axle shall not have less than 24 degrees oscillation from stop to stop. The dipstick port and housing fill shall be at the top of the axle. Shall have a hydraulic locking front axle with conventional rear axle. The front axle shall be hydraulically actuated, disc clutch style, with locking differential for maximum traction.
