Specifications include, but are not limited to: MDT is pursuing implementation of detector- and probe-based signal performance measures for deployment in traffic signal networks throughout the state to continuously monitor traffic signal status and operations, and proactively identify maintenance issues prior to public complaint. Additionally, signal performance measures can be used for robust analyses of corridor health, to measure performances of the corridor before and after signal timing changes, and to improve the efficiency of the signal timing processes for MDT. This project will add performance monitoring capabilities to a new or existing, coordinated or free traffic signal system. Long term, priority intersections for PBTSPM implementation will be those with limited or no communication. During the pilot phase, PBTSPM may be deployed on intersections both with and without communication to provide comparison with Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM).
