Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1) Tank a) Vertical storage tank shall have a minimum capacity of 10,000 gallons of emulsified asphalt or cutback oil products. b) Tank shall be fabricated of minimum ¼” steel. c) Tank shall have an attached steel stand to place bottom of tank 8’ above ground to allow gravity feed unloading. d) Insulation shall be minimum thickness of 3 inch fiberglass insulation rated to handle 24,000 watts of heat for Acterra tanks and 12,000 watts of heat for Duraco tanks. e) Cover insulation with aluminum sheeting for weather protection. f) Access ladder (rung style) to top of tank and access door. g) Tank shall be heated with resistance heater probes capable of maintaining the operating temperature required for either emulsion or cutback oil products. Acterra tanks require 6 – 4,000 watt heater probes and Duraco tanks require 3 – 4,000 watt heater probes to obtain temperatures from 60 degree Fahrenheit to 280-300 degree Fahrenheit. Probes shall slide into sealed steel tubes installed inside the tank with the top being capped. h) Tank heater shall have a programmable temperature controller and be capable of obtaining from 60 degree Fahrenheit to 280- 300 degree Fahrenheit for emulsion and cutback oil products. i) Tank shall be equipped with one 3” ball or gate valve for loading and unloading located at the bottom of the sidewall and centered on the platform. Tank shall also be equipped with one 6” ball or gate valve in the bottom of the tank for cleaning. 6” ball or gate valve to be located approximately 1’ from sidewall adjacent to the platform. Both valves shall be wrapped with 220-volt heat tape and insulated to aid in cold weather operations. j) Install a ¾” vacuum breaker ball valve on the line between the 3” ball/gate valve and the loading hose connection. Vacuum breaker ball valve shall be positioned vertically above the 3” line. k) Tanks shall come with 3” diameter loading hose, minimum 10’ long.
