Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) is soliciting proposals from qualified companies to provide two cleaning, restorative, and protective treatments on selected outdoor, metal sculptures at various Stateowned sites around the islands of Maui and Lanai. Find the list of artworks to be treated in the attachments for this solicitation. Under the supervision of, and in collaboration with the SFCA, the successful Vendor needs to: *Photo documentation of the treatment is a requirement. Besides the images submitted with your proposals, please take progress photos at least once during the treatment and again upon completion of the treatment. Feel free to take progress photos as often as possible. Send progress photos to the Contract Administrator as soon as possible after they are taken. • Make a plaque or sign for each work of art to be included in the pictures of the artwork with the following information: • Title • Artist • Medium • Date picture was taken; First Treatment: It is expected that the first treatments will require a more intensive treatment than the second. Strip off any remaining wax from previous treatments. o If this step isn’t needed, inform the Contract Administrator before proceeding. inspect each piece for patina quality and note whether there is a lacquer layer. If there is a lacquer layer, inspect it to determine condition. o If the lacquer is beginning to flake or become unattached from the surface, it will need to be completely stripped off. o Do not add-back lacquer once it’s stripped. The SFCA doesn’t have the resources to maintain the artwork frequently enough to properly maintain the lacquer. o Use only patina and/or wax on all pieces as the protective barriers. Again, please do not use lacquer. Thoroughly inspect the surface and structural quality of the artwork. Note any excessive erosion, corrosion, surface cracks, and/or any other evidence that the structural integrity might be showing signs of decay. If found, document thoroughly and alert the Contract Administrator. If there are any patina applications needed, consult the Contract Administrator. If Vendor has any concerns or is recommending any repairs, temporarily suspend work on that piece and contact the Contract Administrator. Thoroughly clean and prepare the piece for wax. Apply hot wax unless there is a specific reason for cold wax application. Consult the Contract Administrator if you believe cold wax is the better option...
