Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Hawaii State Department of Education (Department), Office of Strategy, Innovation and Performance (OSIP), Community Engagement Branch (CEB), requests community input to facilitate the Department’s planning activities and development of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for summer after-school care for identified elementary school children, commonly referred to as the After-School Plus (A+) Program. The information received will assist the Department in preparing the release of one or more RFP in the immediate future. The Department is seeking Providers to provide summer after-school care for latchkey children who have completed kindergarten through completion of grade four (4) or five (5) for public elementary schools hosting a summer school program, statewide. Summer A+ services will be provided on summer school days beginning after the summer school program ends at 12:00 noon until 5:30 p.m. Summer A+ services will provide enrichment activities and may provide or sell, with appropriate supervision, snacks or meals that meet the requirements set forth by the STATE Wellness Guidelines. The Department is seeking feedback and responses to the following: 1. To determine the level of interest in providing the aforementioned summer A+ services. 2. To collect information and feedback regarding programming for summer A+ services.
