Specifications include, but are not limited to:The District is a wholesale provider of treated water to Salt Lake City Public Utilities Department, Sandy City Public Utilities Department, and others. The District owns and operates two (2) water treatment plants, the Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant (LCWTP) and the Point of the Mountain Water Treatment Plant (POMWTP), (collectively called the Treatment Plants). The Treatment Plants have full conventional treatment. Ferric sulfate is the primary coagulant at the LCWTP. It may be used at the POMWTP in the future. The estimated annual dry weight equivalent of ferric sulfate used at LCWTP is 2,500,000 pounds (lbs.). The estimated annual dry weight equivalent of ferric sulfate used at POMWTP is 225,000 lbs. Numbers were calculated using a 60 percent (%) solution as the reference solution. Actual quantities will vary. Forces of nature, raw water quality, and other factors will determine the amount of ferric sulfate required.
