Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide expertise to assist in developing a floodplain management and restoration plan. Objective 1. Establish Stakeholder Team Successful restoration plans are based on the partnerships on which they are built. Strengthening cooperation among invested stakeholders and engaging them in the restoration process will bring new ideas, input, and understanding of natural resource concerns in the watershed. Identifying critical partners at the beginning of the planning process will save time and money. This collaboration can also generate feedback from partners to help meet additional planning requirements for their programs or other funding sources. This first task focuses on stakeholder group formation and engagement and continues throughout the process. Initially, a stakeholder meeting should be scheduled to discuss overarching goals for the project area, timeframe, and stakeholder water quality issues and floodplain concerns. Task 1. Identify Management Team Members Successfully developing an effective restoration plan will depend primarily on the commitment and involvement of private individuals and agency staff. It is critical to build a management team at the beginning of the restoration planning effort that includes people and organizations who are solutions-oriented and committed to the restoration plan's success. The team will ultimately make and implement decisions. They are affected by the decisions made and those who could help or impede the plan's implementation. It is envisioned that the Management Team will guide the development of the technical parts of the plan.
