Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Perform oral cleanings on patients by removing all traces of calculus, deposits and accretions, and stains from the teeth with hand mechanized instruments on all clients at the DHS/CHDC dental office on campus. b. Conduct instrumental examination and charts conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues for carious lesions, periodontal pockets, and other abnormal conditions. c. Perform screening on patients using X–ray technology. d. Administer prescribed medicaments to the gingival and applies prescribed desensitizing agents. e. Instruct patients on oral physical therapy and toothbrush techniques and oral hygiene. f. Maintain records in computer database by entering basic dental history and information such as conditions of the mouth and extent of services rendered for each patient. g. Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments h. Daily maintenance of hand pieces and other dental equipment. i. Assist with seating and preparing patients for dental procedures. j. Practice tool control of instruments and needles Note: DHS will provide all material, supplies, and equipment needed to provide services.
