Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Inspection: Inspections are for collecting samples of suspect asbestos-containing, lead-based paint-containing or mold-containing materials to be sent to an approved lab for analysis. The inspector will write a report of the lab findings. Inspections must be carried out by a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) -licensed asbestos inspector, a United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA or EPA) certified lead-based paint inspector or by a contractor that can follow analytical methods recommended by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), or other professional organizations in the case of mold-testing. Mold, paint, and asbestos testing must be representative of suspect surfaces or materials in each room or area. Inspections must comply with latest SCDHEC and EPA regulations. • Air Monitoring services: For the purpose of this contract, air monitoring will only be required for asbestosrelated services. Monitoring must be performed by SCDHEC-licensed asbestos air monitor. o Air Monitoring must begin with background monitoring (PCM), prior to the start of asbestos removal. o Daily air monitoring (PCM) shall be conducted during all hour’s asbestos abatement activities are performed until asbestos removal is complete. This will require the operation of air pumps around the asbestos work area by the Asbestos air monitor(s) for the entire duration of the removal project. o Following the completion of asbestos removal, final clearance (TEM) continuous air monitoring shall be conducted at the completion of the project for a minimum of 2.5 hours to determine whether space meets clean air standard for re-occupancy.
