Specifications include, but are not limited to: Family engagement, defined in Montana as “the genuine strengths-based relationship between families, programs, and the community sharing responsibility to support the positive development of children and families. Family engagement in children’s early learning and development has been demonstrated to have positive effects in areas such as language, cognition, social-emotional development, and school readiness.” The Montana partner will help strengthen this network by partners across the early childhood network. Montana is a large, rural state. Its people have many traditions and include twelve recognized sovereign nations, families that have settled in the area from several generations to newcomers from other parts of the United States and world.
