Specifications include, but are not limited to: Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading program that focuses on independent reading with personalized goals-based system provided for students/teacher. Star Assessments provide a computer- adaptive Reading Math and Early Literacy. Greenwood School District 50 is seeking to purchase Accelerated Reader (AR) and Star Assessments (SA). This technology provides the following: - AR features more than 210,000 quizzes for fiction and nonfiction books at wide range of levels - AR has quizzes for Spanish titles to help meet the needs of emergent bilingual learners - AR provides an in-depth reporting that supports regular teacher-student conversations about reading time, comprehensions and growth. - AR also provides comprehensive searchable book list that includes; readability level, suggested reading age, book length, genre, and correlation factor to student goals. - SA provides a computer- adaptive Star Reading (k-12) and Star Math (K-12) assessment in English and Spanish - SA is on the SC State Adoption list of State- Approved “Formative” (Interim) Assessments Renaissance to our knowledge is the sole source vendor of this type of computerized reading program and assessment solution. The District would like to Sole Source this service from Renaissance to provide the Accelerated Reader Program and Star Assessments. These programs that are already in use through out all of our elementary and middle schools have shown to be important for our teachers and administration to track reading growth and promote a love of reading in our students.
