The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) is soliciting sealed bids for Defense Counsel with a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school and is licensed to practice law in the state of ND. The Contractor must have experience working on a drug court team. We will award one bid for Bismarck and one bid in Fargo. This contract requires the Contractor to be physically located in Bismarck and Fargo to do the following: Participate in weekly drug court pre-court staffing and court sessions. Ensure participants’ constitutional rights are protected and advocate for participants’ stated legal interests. Represent clients in drug court judicial proceedings in a competent, effective, and ethical manner. Represent drug court clients in the State’s six adult drug courts when termination or violation hearings are requested. Out of region hearings may be done virtually. Hearings will be split equally between the two contractors. Need to attend national and regional drug court conferences and meetings. Conference expenses are paid by the DOCR.
