The work includes but is not necessarily limited to the following: Constructing a 3.1 miles cycle track along Chandler Blvd, connecting the Chandler and Orange Line Bike Paths, and bridging a gap in the low-stress bicycle network. The project will connect the existing 2.8 mile Chandler Bike Path to the 15 mile Metro Orange Line Bike Path with a low-stress, protected bike facility, and create a 21mile physically-separated bikeway stretching from Mariposa Street in Burbank to Lassen Street in Chatsworth by reconfiguring the widths of the existing parking and vehicular travel lanes to add a buffer area with flexible bollards between the bike lane and the vehicle lanes, and incorporating bicycle actuation at signals, loop detectors, pavement markings and wayfinding signage. The project also proposes to construct floating bus islands with access ramps on the east side of Lankershim Boulevard between North and South Chandler Boulevard, and on both north and south sides of Chandler Boulevard west of Vineland Avenue to eliminate any conflicts between bicyclists and buses along the project. The entire project will take place in paved areas and will require ground disturbance with an anticipated maximum depth of excavation of 2 feet. Furnishing, hauling, placing, compacting, and grading of material; preparing subgrade for portland cement concrete (PCC) and asphalt concrete (AC); furnishing and constructing ADA compliant PCC sidewalk, curb ramps, curb, curb & gutter, intersection gutter, longitudinal gutter, grinding and patching PCC improvements and cold milling AC pavement; saw cutting, removals; removing curb, gutter, sidewalk, and pavement; unclassified excavation, including haul, traffic striping and markings; traffic control (includes all permitting, detour and construction stages); finish grading; clean-up and related work.
