Specifications include, but are not limited to: DeKalb County Government is seeking submissions from an artist, creative designer, or team of local artist(s)/creative designer(s) to help design effective and meaningful community engagement in the geographic area depicted in the Chamblee-Tucker and Mercer Activity Center Area. (See Exhibit I). The goal of this project is to develop a creative local engagement process that promotes the involvement of all residents living in and stakeholders who frequently visit and/or serve the general study area boundary, with efforts and accommodations made to include low- to moderate-income, minority, multilingual and non-English speakers, older, and/or disabled residents and stakeholders in the focus location. The artist(s)/creative designer(s) should have experience in working with diverse communities and soliciting feedback in an interactive manner. The artist(s)/creative designer(s) should be familiar with community engagement strategies and the social determinants of health as well as strategies to utilize creative expression as a vehicle for ensuring unique perspectives and approaches are shared and included. The artist(s)/creative designer(s) will have relevant skill, experience, and/or familiarity as facilitators of community-based participatory research. Creative tools for community engagement may include visual-art techniques, storytelling, music, performance, etc. and is intended to make community engagement more accessible and inviting and to help connect residents with the community.
