1. The contractor will evaluate Vermont 's law enforcement canine officers’ current in-service training needs and consult with the Executive Director on what those needs are. 2. The contractor will coordinate with all canine instructors and complete a preliminary assessment of instructor skills and capacity to assist in canine training during the contract. 3. The contractor will work with the Canine Committee and the Executive Director to determine distinctions in practice, training, and instructions. 4. The contractor will conduct a 16-week patrol school for new Vermont canine law enforcement teams utilizing Vermont standards for certification. 5. The contractor will conduct a 6-week drug detection school for new Vermont canine law enforcement teams utilizing Vermont standards for certification. 6. The initial certification training will be conducted on site at the Vermont Police Academy. The contractor will not be required to be on site at the Vermont Police Academy outside of the patrol school scheduled days; however, they will be required to attend, supervise, and monitor all trainings, in particular the patrol school. 7. Contractor will be required to provide their own vehicle for travel within the state as needed. 8. Contractor shall track and document all rosters, training competencies, and outcomes in a manner that is approved by Academy staff.
