Specifications include, but are not limited to: The North Dakota Atmospheric Resource Board (NDARB) intends to execute a design-build contract to design, furnish and erect a steel tower structure to support a radar dome (Radome) at the Bowman Regional Airport located 4 miles east of Bowman, North Dakota. The contractor will be responsible for the design of the tower. The tower shall be capable of supporting a 22’ diameter radome that is to be attached to the top of the tower (radome to be installed by others). The tower and foundation shall be designed to support the necessary dead and live loads as well as resist any wind load on the radome. The Contractor will be responsible for performing any geotechnical investigation necessary for the design of the foundation. TOWER SPECIFICATIONS: The 4-leg tower shall be designed and constructed to a height of 60 feet (the elevation of the platform). The walking surface of the platform to be constructed on top of the tower shall consist of expanded metal capable of supporting a minimum live load of 100 psf. The platform shall be constructed to accommodate a radome base ring diameter of 15.2 feet. The design of the tower shall incorporate an internal staircase to provide access to the upper platform for maintenance purposes. The staircase shall include the installation of a handrail for safety.
