A. The Hampton School District’s Centre School preschool is requesting proposals that include adaptive outdoor physical educational equipment (playground), the safety surface with firm pathways to support wheeled devices, between equipment, the installation of the all equipment. B. Designs will not be limited, but we are looking for creative implementation and ideas with expansion possibilities. C. A 4’ tall chain link fence, with top and bottom rails, approximately 150 ft to surround the perimeter of the playground including a 3’ gate for student/adult entrance and an 8’ service gate. The gate placement openings should be in harmony with the proposed playground layout. D. The equipment can be provided with more than two or more structures. The playground should accommodate the widest possible range of activities that will provide fun to promote physical fitness and encourage social interaction. Among the play activities that should be considered are balancing, climbing, crawling, hanging, imagining, manipulating, pushing, pulling, riding, seesawing, sitting, sliding, swinging, whirling, and percussion apparatuses. E. The playground equipment can be made of metal, plastic, or a combination. The color of the equipment shall be “earth tone” colors (but not yellow). F. The equipment proposed shall include at least two (2) benches and a shaded area. G. The playground equipment should be in full compliance with both the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPS) guidelines. The equipment shall all be accessible to the handicap students in accordance with State and Federal Laws. H. Each proposal shall recommend and include safety surface material that is believed to be the best value for the money. A portion of the safety surface shall be handicap accessible to accommodate wheeled apparatuses.
