Specifications include, but are not limited to: Increasingly, worsening climate change vulnerabilities and some of the impacts of port development are synergistically impacting resilience planning and action in greater Nome. The objective of this project, the Climate Assessment and Proactive Resilience Initiative (CAPRI), is to pilot an approach to determining mutually agreed upon threats from climate change (e.g., habitat change, storm surge, inundation) to human and natural resources using visualization tools (e.g., ERMA®, artistically rendered Conceptual Models. Application to climate change and port development issues in Nome will be a new use of these tools that can help DHS plan and prepare for future conditions in the Arctic to help stakeholder groups collaborate effectively in the face of complex changes. These vulnerability indices will help the stakeholders to determine what adaptations or actions should be taken to mitigate impacts.
