Specifications include, but are not limited to: CULVERT PIPE – TYPE 3 & 5 AND ROUND EQUIVALENT CULVERT PIPE – TYPE 3 & 5; Corrugated metal culvert pipe shall meet the requirements of Section 1035 of the Standard Specifications. The culvert pipe shall be riveted, and the corrugations shall be annular. Fabricating annular corrugated metal pipe with spot welds rather than rivets is acceptable if strip samples are submitted for testing, the samples pass weld shear, and certifications that the specimens meet all NDOT requirements are furnished with the finished pipe. CORRUGATED POLYETHYLENE PIPE; The use of corrugated polyethylene pipe conforming to the requirements of Section 1038 of the Standard Specifications has not been approved by Lancaster County and is unacceptable for use on this project. CONNECTING BANDS FOR CORRUGATED CULVERT PIPE; The coupling or connecting bands acceptable for corrugated culvert pipe shall be corrugated and shall be a minimum of two feet wide. METAL HEADWALLS AND METAL ROUND EQUIVALENT HEADWALL; The Contractor will provide and install metal headwalls as called for on the Plans. Metal Headwalls and Round Equivalent Metal Headwalls will correspond to the dimensions shown on Special Plan 1-C. All headwalls will be manufactured from galvanized corrugated steel sheets with a minimum of 12 gauge otherwise matching the gauge specified for corrugated metal pipe in Table 1035.01 or plans, corrugations may be 2⅔” x ½“, or 3” x 1”. Single barrel headwalls will be manufactured using a single sheet of material. Twin and Triple barrel headwalls may be manufactured in 2 or 3 separate sections. These sections will be bolted or continuously welded to form the finished headwall.
