UMaine seeks a Concrete Construction Company (the Respondent) to build a concrete foundation out of reinforced concrete using standard house foundation formwork. UMaine will prepare a flat bottom form surface for the project for casting. This surface may be elevated up to 4ft off the ground and will be approved by a Licensed Engineer. No ground work is expected of the contractor other than standard bracing of the formwork to the ground if required. The structure has a footprint of approximately 50ft by 50ft and will be constructed based on drawings supplied by UMaine. Estimated material quantities are shown in the table below. The structure can be cast in one or more pours, but cold joints must be prepared with water stop and/or coatings to prevent leakages. UMaine will provide the plain concrete (through a local qualified ready-mix concrete supplier) and all embedded materials including a 6’ 6” diameter large steel shaft, steel embedment plates, anchor bolts, and pvc duct work. Input on the slump and workability from the contractor is welcome. The scope of work for the contractor includes all formwork, placement and tying of reinforcement, and concrete pouring. In addition, the contractor will assist UMaine in the placement of any other items that are to be cast in the concrete. The contractor will provide the rebar reinforcement based on the drawings provided and approved by UMaine.
