Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of this specification is to describe a MASH approved trailer TMA that will be pulled behind a single or tandem axle plow truck. The TMA shall safely absorb collision energy when impacted by an oncoming vehicle. The trailer shall be equipped with a full matrix message sign board that raises in use and lowers for travel. 1. Crash Performance; a. Must be MASH approved. (Replaces previous NCHRP 350 test level 3 requirements); 2. Axles; a. Axle must meet the required gross vehicle weight rating of the trailer; b. Equalizer spring or torsion suspension; 3. Wheels and tires; a. Sufficient sized wheels and tires that meets or exceeds the load rating of the trailer; b. Galvanized or painted steel rims; c. Must provide one spare matching wheel and tire, with spare tire mount; d. Meet Federal DOT requirements for conspicuity marking
