1. The excavator must be track-mounted with a maximum width of one hundred and twenty (120”) inches as determined by the FIC or as specified in the project description(s). The excavator must reach a minimum of eighteen (18’) feet from the center pin. The FIC must approve excavators with a horsepower rating of one hundred and thirty (130) or greater. The excavator must include a grapple, bucket and thumb, brush rake or a combination of both. The excavator’s capabilities must include making a slash pile a minimum of ten (10’) feet in height from the ground. The grapple must grasp material a minimum of one (1”) inch to twenty-four (24”) inches in diameter. The grapple must support the weight of the machine in order that it may lift the machine off stumps and rocks and assist it in maneuvering on steep slopes. 2. IDL requires the Contractor to use dozers of medium class and weigh fifty thousand (50,000 lbs.) pounds or less (e.g. D5, D6) to limit and minimize soil compaction. The dozer must include a brush rake. The FIC must approve dozers with greater weight. 3. The machine must include screening or guards to protect the operator and the cab from falling material. 4. Equipment must operate off-road and on slopes up to forty-five percent (45%). 5. The FIC must approve all equipment prior to starting operations.
