Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The weapons firing range use shall be limited to California Highway Patrol (CHP) personnel assigned in the San Diego region. Approximate number of CHP personnel using range: 150 2. Contractor agrees that CHP shall have the use of all on-site facilities located on the range for training programs without additional charge. 3. Contractor and CHP agree the weapons firing range shall be open and usable by members of CHP at such times that are mutually agreeable to both parties. 4. While using the range at the mutually agreeable pre-determined time, only CHP personnel and contractor staff will be allowed on the range. The range shall not be. open to the public. 5. The CHP agrees that its members using the weapons firing range facilities under this Agreement shall be governed by the range safety rules established by the Contractor. 6. Brass will be retained by the Contractor. 7. The weapons firing range must be able to accommodate the following: a. 40 caliber pistol (loaded with Department-issued ammunition currently 1 B0G), b. Tactical Rifle (.223 caliber) and Shotgun (00 buckshot). c. 3 to 6 shoots per month d. The use of all three weapons systems during each shoot using regular ammunition (not frangible). e. Distances of 2, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards between the three weapons. f. Ability to turn off lights (if indoor range) up to 5 times during year to simulate night shoots. g. Use of the range between hours of 0800 hours till 2359 hours (to accommodate all three work shifts) with adequate notice to Contractor for non-business hours shoots. 8. Inspection and test firing of weapons: a. All weapons are to be test fired after each required inspection by the Area b. Weapons Range officer. c. Use of the facility to test fire the weapons will be coordinated between the Area Weapons Range Officer and the Contractor. d. Use of the range to test fire weapons after inspections will not need to be a CHP use only range and can be done during normal business hours.
