Specifications include, but are not limited to: There are four different grant types: planning, implementation, replication, and expansion. Under each grant type, applicants may request an 18-month planning period; however, implementation grant applicants operating the school in the first year of the grant award are ineligible for a planning period. 1. Planning grants applicants can be new charter schools and existing “high-quality charter schools.” 2. New charter school implementation grant applicants will open a new charter school or currently operate a charter school that will begin serving students August 2024 or later. 3. Expansion grant applicants currently operate an existing “high-quality charter school” (defined below) and can provide three years of evidence of improved educational results for students enrolled in the existing high-quality charter school. Expansion grant applicants must have a current approval to expand student seats by no less than 5%.
