Specifications include, but are not limited to: First Semi-Annual Service Shall Include the Following: A. Clean debris and all foreign material from scale pit. B. Control rust on all scale beams, platform support beams and pedestals, by wire brushing loose rust and painting with zinc-rich primer. C. Inspect all working parts. D. Check the scale bumpers located between the platform and the pit walls. Lubricate the bumper bolt threads. Adjust the bolts to provide ⅛ to ¼ inch of platform movement in all directions from the rest position. E. Clean and adjust the weight-o-graph or calibrate the electronic readout equipment. F. Calibrate the scale and test them by placing calibration test weights of at least 20,000 pounds on scales in various positions, and perform a train test using a loaded truck of known weight. G. Lubricate all moving parts. H. Inspect sump pump. Second Semi-Annual Service Shall Include the Following: A. Clean away all existing lubrication material and apply fresh lubrication to all moving parts. B. Assist the county and/or State (Weights & Measures Department) in inspection and sealing of the scales. This assistance by the Contractor is included as part of the second semi-annual maintenance even if the scale sealing does not occur on the same day the semi-annual maintenance is performed.
