Specifications include, but are not limited to: The successful Bidder is responsible to complete the work as follows: Painted Galvanized Stairwell (1st Base Side) • Areas: Only the landings on the 1st base side will be re-painted. The stairs and handrails will not be re-painted. o Mask, cover and protect all surfaces that are to remain unpainted. • Surface Prep: Sweep blasting to remove all surface contamination including all existing surface rust, debris, and paint. o Apply PPG’s Prep 88 to all surfaces that are scheduled to be painted, and rinse with clean water. • Primer: (1) heavy coat of PPG’s Multi-Prime or equivalent • Finish: (2) full coats of PPG’s two-component epoxy paint or equivalent; Unpainted Galvanized Stairwell (3rd Base Side) • Areas: Paint the stairs, landings, and support beams. o Mask, cover and protect all surfaces that are to remain unpainted. • Surface Prep: Sweep blasting to remove all surface contamination including existing surface rust and debris. o Apply PPG’s Prep 88 to all surfaces that are scheduled to be painted, and rinse with clean water. • Primer: (1) heavy coat of PPG’s Multi-Prime or equivalent • Finish: (2) full coats of PPG’s two-component epoxy paint or equivalent • Apply a 2” black epoxy stripe on the front edge of each stair tread, to match the 1st base side. Materials • The preferred manufacturer is PPG’s and preferred materials are as listed above. o Paint must color match existing in 1st base side stairwell. • Alternates will be considered that meet or exceed the spec’s of the preferred materials. o Alternate materials must be high-performance, possess superior durability, resist UV light degradation, meet air quality standards, and preferably meet green building requirements. o Bidder must include detailed specifications for alternates with their bids.
