22.4. Irrigation System Start-Up a. Turn on water to system and visually inspect system (heads, valve box controller). b. Activate the controller, setup the watering schedule, and test all valves and heads. c. Check/adjust irrigation system for proper coverage and distribution. d. Check/maintain cleanliness of heads and nozzles. e. Connect the drain pump and suction lines, check valve filters (if applicable). 22.5. System Shutdown/Winterization a. Turn off water to system and drain inside pipes and vacuum breaker. b. Deactivate the controller and valves. c. Remove battery if solid state controller. d. Use compressed air to blow all lines free of water. e. Open all manual drains and faucets. f. Remove and/or drain pump and suction line. g. Check valve and filter.
