Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. All steel shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M270, GR 36; including the supplemental requirements for Charpy V-Notch toughness for Zone 1. 2. Steel meeting ASTM A-36 may be used provided the supplemental requirements to AASHTO M270, GR 36, for Charpy V-Notch Toughness for zone is met. 3. All Steel shall be painted according to either Paint System #1 or #5, reference the NCDOT Structural Steel Shop Coatings Program: https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/Materials/MaterialsResources/Structural%20Steel%20Shop%20Coatings%20Pr ogram.pdf 4. If paint system #5 is used, two (2) coats of Red Primer shall be applied in the shop instead of one. 5. Shop inspection is required.
