The existing two-lane 15-foot single span bridge has a total width of 67 feet; and has two travel lanes, an asphalt parking/pedestrian lane, and a 17-foot-wide vegetated strip. The bridge has concrete encased steel I-Beam girders with a cast-in-place concrete deck and is built on stone masonry abutments. The bridge has substandard pedestrian rails on both sides. The bridge was originally constructed in 1930. The most recent NHDOT Bridge Inspection Report lists the deck as being in poor condition, the substructure in fair condition, and the superstructure in serious condition. The bridge is E-2 weight posted. Proposals for reuse shall be for the steel girders and steel components of the superstructure only. Reuse proposals shall not include the concrete bridge deck or masonry abutments. The bridge is available for inspection as it is located in a public right-of-way. The existing Academy Street Bridge was determined to be individually eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, and is considered a historic resource under Section 4(f). The successful proposal shall include a description of how the bridge would be dismantled, moved, reused, and preserved, including the location to where the bridge will be moved, as well as a schedule for the bridge removal and site cleanup
