Specifications include, but are not limited to: • 8’ length x 40” x 40” • Cage-style trap, not culvert. Flat floor, non-skid traction. • 3” deep access holes along all 4 sides. • Counterweight operated door. • Small access panel or small door at the front of the trap to set bait. • Middle separator option to partition bears (priced separately as an add on option). • Modifications from design sheet (blueprint): o Mesh top 1/3 of all 4 sides. o Treadle or pull style option to close door when bear reaches for bait. o Aluminum spare tire cover - protects from bears outside of trap causing damage. o The cable to trigger the door runs outside the trap, encased in metal tubing - prevents damage from bears inside trap. o Dyneema rope used instead of regular cable. o The trigger mechanism modified so bait hangs from top, not on bottom of trap. Encourages bears to pull on bait and not just eat on bottom of trap (Virginia modification). o Holder bar to hold door open when people crawling into/out of trap. o Winch on back/outside of trap to pull bears (live/dead) back into trap. o Aluminum ramp option (price separately) on back for pulling bears in/out of trap. o ½ inch drainage holes every foot along bottom of trap for drainage o 2 water troughs raised above ground, on back corners of trap with removable drain plugs.
