Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City aims to engage an experienced interdisciplinary research team to establish a historical record of the Lakeland community with a focus on the actions of the City and other parties. The Research team will have the following responsibilities: 1. Research the impact of actions of the City and other parties, including urban renewal and displacement, on the Lakeland Community and its diaspora. 2. Research the economic impact of displacement on generational wealth. 3. Work in partnership with a working group including, but not limited to current and displaced members of the Lakeland Community, representatives from the University of Maryland Archives, the Lakeland Community Heritage Project, the Lakeland Digital Archives working group, and the Lakeland Civic Association. 4. Conduct research with current and displaced Lakelanders, the City, and its partners in order to create an accurate and thorough record of Lakeland’s past and present relationship with the urban renewal process. 5. Provide recommendations for the areas of research, archiving, and public dissemination efforts. 6. Provide recommendations to the RJC to focus and direct restorative and transformative actions via strategic policy in transportation, education, public safety, sustainability, revitalization, redevelopment, and other appropriate areas. 7. Produce a document memorializing research findings, publishing them in the form of a book and digital media. A Schedule of Work will be developed by the Consultant and included with the bid package to become part of the contract terms once accepted by the City.
