Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Accurate and rapid scanning of surfaces within 1 s. 2. It will be a non-contact system which will give us repeatable values. 3. The unit should have the automatic rotation capability which will ensure measurements of mounted samples like wind blades etc and will have a resolution of 0.1 µm in height measurement. 4. Dynamic range scanning which will ensure measurements of samples which do not reflect light like wind blades etc. 5. Automatic configuration which will take into account auto focus, measurement volume and measurement settings. 6. More particularly, automatic configuration of width and height of the samples. Height is important as we will be dealing with 3D objects. 7. The instruments should also have multiple measurements mode in a single mode as we will be inspecting multiple samples with defects etc. 8. We are looking for a wide area: 300 (length) × 150 (width) × 70 mm (height). 9. The instrument should have the capacity to measure high resolution surface textures which can build 3D model with up to 25 million points of data. 10. Instrument should have used friendly measurement functions for student and researcher operators like profile measurements, cross-section measurements, flatness measurements, volume and area measurements, dimensional measurements, roughness measurements etc
