Specifications include, but are not limited to: 6.1.1 Location of stable must be within 30 miles of the UW Campus 6.1.2 Live onsite barn staff 6.1.3 Separate area or stall in case of injury or lay ups 6.1.4 Wash stall/area 6.1.5 Arenas are safe from sharp objects and provide adequate barriers for jumping horses and students learning to steer 6.1.6 Covered and protected tack and feed room for storage of all horse tack, grooming equipment, and feed 6.1.7 Access to necessary equipment and knowledge to maintain footing of indoor and outdoor arena (dragging and watering as needed) 6.1.8 Functioning, accessible, clean bathroom facilities on site and available for use by club, team, staff and guests 6.1.9 Properly displayed emergency contact information for stable management as well as standard emergency procedures for humans and horses 6.1.10 Allow club and team to post their safety policies (e.g. helmet policy, rider fall policy, club rules regarding youth participants) visible to members in club specific areas (like tack room) 6.1.11 Provide an agreed upon area for club to park their horse trailer on a daily basis 6.1.12 All utilities and taxes paid by stable operator/owner 6.1.13 Provide snow and ice removal for safety of horses and club member’s 6.1.14 Provide shelter in pasture, free of sharp or pointy objects that could injure a horse or club member 6.1.15 Pasture shelters to be cleaned/scraped out every spring or as needed 6.1.16 Pastures available for all club horses that are large enough to grow grass and have areas that don’t turn to mud 6.1.17 Ability to transport horses in case of an emergency and to events agreed upon by club/team and contractor 6.1.18 Access to arena time for captain-led team practices (typically twice a week for 2 hours) 6.1.19 Must be willing to allow club to bring additional horses as space allows 6.1.20 Must allow access to the barn 24/7 for HRC board members in case of emergency
