The Nelson Gulch-Marysville Fuels Reduction Project Area includes 4 individual fuel treatment units containing a combined total of 42.3 acres. Nelson Gulch Treatment Units 1, 2 & 3 - Tree Felling, Bucking and Limbing Specifications Fell, buck, and limb standing Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, and juniper trees less than 6 inches DBH. Maintain a minimum 25’ spacing of trees less than 6 inches in diameter to avoid large openings with no trees. No aspen or 5 needle pines (limber or whitebark pine) are to be cut. Remove limbs and tops less than 8 inches in diameter from dead, down trees. Tree stems greater than 8 inches in diameter can be left in place. Buck all cut woody material less than 8 inches in diameter to lengths of 6 feet or less and place into compact hand piles. Marysville Treatment Unit 4 - Bucking and Limbing Specifications No felling is required in this unit. Work will consist of limbing, topping and bucking dead, down trees. Remove limbs and tops less than 10 inches in diameter from dead, down trees. Tree stems greater than 10 inches in diameter can be left in place. Buck all cut woody material less than 10 inches in diameter to lengths of 6 feet or less and place into compact hand piles.
