The Kansas Department of Administration is soliciting bids for air handling units to replace existing in the State Printing Plant in Topeka, Kansas. The attached plans, specifications, and schedule define these units. This solicitation is for air handling units that shall replace the existing units in the facility. A subsequent solicitation will be issued to contractors for the installation of the air handling units. The construction schedule for the subsequent installation contract is yet to be determined; however, it is anticipated that this will occur during the Fall of 2024 or early 2025. A Purchase Order will be issued to the successful air handling unit manufacturer once bids, for this equipment, are received and analyzed. The air handling units shall be delivered to the Printing Plant in Topeka, Kansas. Offloading of the equipment, and placing the equipment into storage, shall be by the Owner. Owner shall be provided with advance notice prior to excepting delivery. Warranty for the air handling units shall commence on the date of the successful startup of the equipment. It is anticipated that the assembly and installation contract would be complete to allow start up in early 2025. The base bid unit shall include the manufacturer’s standard coils. Coil connections shall be schedule 40 black steel. A separate price shall be provided for a) the air handling unit and for any required manufacturer’s representative assistance during installation and b) start up and Owner training. The basis of design manufacturer is “Trane”. Dimensions in the space are important, therefore, any equivalent manufacturer must provide equipment that is similar, dimensionally, to those indicated on the plans. An alternative manufacturer, requesting approval, shall provide a complete submittal to the Engineer, a minimum of seven (7) business days prior to the date of the receipt of the bid. If it is determined that the manufacturer, requesting approval, is acceptable; this will be listed by addendum prior to the receipt of the bid. Any bid submitted by a manufacturer that has not received prior approval, as listed by addendum, will not be accepted.
