Specifications include, but are not limited to: Make onsite farm calls to provide veterinary services required to maintain healthy cattle owned by the Kentucky Department of Corrections at the Western KY Correctional Farm located in Fredonia, Ky. Accept office calls. Provide and administer prescriptions, generic when available, at market/insurance rate cost. Perform corral work in the maintenance of a healthy cattle herd Examine sick, diseased, injured or non-performing cattle. Authorize, prescribe and perform the appropriate treatment of sick, diseased, injured or non-performing cattle. Perform surgical procedures as required in the treatment of sick or injured cattle. Perform routine examinations of cattle including but not limited to pregnancy examinations. Authorize, evaluate and interpret laboratory and diagnostic reports. Provide consulting services concerning herd health issues, routine treatments and procedures. Administer Brucellosis vaccinations on cattle. Provide lab testing for conditions including but not limited to Johnes, Anaplasmosis, and other lab testing as needed. Provide Necropsy services. Assist in the synchronization and artificial insemination of breeding stock. Provide health certificates for bulls and cows.
