Specifications include, but are not limited to: SLASHING - There is an estimated 100 acres of slashing to be performed across the Gold Hill and Midas Touch sale areas. Slashing areas are illustrated on the map in excess of 100 acres, so slashing should be performed in areas meeting the description below. Slashing is cutting down brush and conifer trees prior to burning to prepare the site for planting and to enhance the success of the site preparation treatment. Sub-merchantable trees (less than 6 inches DBH and >1’ in height) and brush > 1’ in height comprise the fuel loading targeted for removal by slashing and through leave tree protection guidelines where applicable (see below). All trees not designated as leave trees that are taller than the minimum cut tree height shall be cut. Leave trees (marked with a band of orange paint) shall not be damaged in the operation. All cut trees shall be completely severed below the lowest live limb except when prevented by natural obstacles. This will prevent the tree from growing new vegetative material.
