High Plains Fair Housing Center (High Plains) is the only organization in North Dakota and in the region with the mission of ensuring equal access to fair housing through training, education, enforcement, and advocacy. High Plains is based in Grand Forks and has an office in the state’s capital of Bismarck. They are the only fair housing organization in the state of North Dakota that actively advocates for victims of discrimination and actively investigates cases of discrimination. High Plains regularly file meritorious complaints administratively and in court. They have a robust testing program that tests on all the protected classes (including sexual orientation and gender identity) and on all real estate transactions including rental, sales, design and construction and lending throughout the state of North Dakota. The staff is highly trained and skilled on the Federal Fair Housing Act including attending many HUD funded trainings on Fair Housing.
