The scope of work includes providing bridge design services on an as-needed basis through term contracts via term assignment(s). Work may range from bridge-specific tasks for in-house projects to producing complete plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) packages for advertisement and construction. Services may also include technical bridge reviews of in-house work, feasibility studies, or other analysis of bridge-related issues. While the emphasis for these term contracts is bridge-related, firms must possess the capability (independently or through subconsultants) to perform all the work required to complete a bridge design project. Project types will generally be relatively small in nature but are not necessarily limited in scope or cost. Example project types include emergency repair, deck preservation, minor and major rehabilitation, and replacement, to name a few. Due to the nature of some projects or work (i.e. emergency repair or project checking), responsiveness, efficiency, and expediency are important skills to demonstrate. Designs and PS&E packages will be developed in accordance with MDT’s standards and specifications and must be stamped by a Professional Engineer registered in Montana.
