Through this grant, awardees will design a project and/or program that will improve care for individuals that are experiencing a behavioral health crisis and are responded to by law enforcement. This grant provides the opportunity for applicants to tailor a virtual behavioral health delivery system that fits the needs of their county and provide enhanced telehealth crisis services to aid law enforcement agencies during a behavioral health crisis event. Certified county crisis agencies that are awarded grants may contract with local law enforcement jurisdictions to provide telehealth equipment to law enforcement agencies and develop virtual behavioral health crisis interventions to support the individual experiencing crisis. Further, certified county crisis programs may contract for telehealth services (including 2-way audio/video communication) with a private entity for the purpose of training, equipment, or decision-making support.
